Life is full of rich experiences, emotions and opportunities much like the diverse array of colours we see. Living your life in colour is about fully engaging with the spectrum of human experience, embracing all the emotions and experiences that come your way, and making the most of the opportunities you have. Life in Colour seeks to support clients to engage deeply with their experiences, emotions, and relationships through psychotherapy and art therapy.
Psychotherapy & Art Therapy
What is art therapy?
Art therapy is all about using creativity as a way to express feelings and work through tough emotions. Imagine sitting down with a therapist and picking up some paint or clay—not just to make something pretty, but to explore what's going on inside you. It’s a relaxed and supportive way to let your thoughts flow. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or just want to understand yourself better, art therapy helps you tap into your creativity to promote healing and self-discovery. You don’t need to be an artist to benefit from art therapy, it is for everyone! In session we talk and make art or just talk. You take the lead and each session is tailored to suit your unique therapeutic goals.
I’ve used art in therapy to help people navigate everything from grief, trauma, racial trauma, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and even things like emotional regulation, relationship issues, family issues, bullying, and school stress—basically, it’s been a tool for tackling a wide range of challenges in life!

Meet Monica
Hello, I’m Monica (she/her). If you are looking for support I welcome your courage and I am here to meet you with warmth. Deciding to go to therapy can be a big decision, one I made many years ago myself, and I am so grateful I did. We all can use a little extra care and understanding and I am happy to be that person for you.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying, and completing my Art Therapy thesis through the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. I also come with over 20 years of experience working with kids and teens as a Specialist Arts Educator in the Peel District School Board. As a passionate Art Educator, I was able to see firsthand the impact the Arts can have on the individual, a community and the connections it builds. During the pandemic, I used art therapy-based interventions to support my students with their mental health as we experienced collective trauma coupled with racial trauma. At a time when we were distanced and struggled to regulate emotions, it supported connection and healing. I then felt called to go back to school to become an Art Therapist. This new path has allowed me to combine my love of helping others with creative expression. It is holistic healing that is inclusive and empowering. If you are curious, reach out and we can chat!
